Reader Reviews

Big Book a Big Hit!
This book is a hit with my 3 year old. We negotiate each night how many times we are going to read it before bedtime. He loves the colour, sturdy pages, oodles of dinosaur pictures and especially the enourmous footprint! I love the fact that it is a great book to help teach perspective and the relative sizes of different dinosaurs. Certainly lives up to the quality we've come to expect from Usborne!

Press & Blog Reviews

Tom enjoyed looking at the dynamic scenes of the dinosaurs interacting with each other – I think this approach worked well to capture his imagination – much more so than static images of dinosaurs would have done. The large, fold out, spreads also helped to fit in the drawings of dinosaurs to scale. The pages, which were made of thick, durable card, were also sturdy enough to handle a young child getting to grips with them. It’s nice that the book focuses fully on the dinosaurs themselves, rather than including too much background information. It instead gives fact after dinosaur fact – and some of these were awe-inspiring enough to have Tom literally drop his jaw as he listened to me read them out! I also like the way the text reads a bit like a storybook – which helped to hold Tom’s attention. Some of the dinosaur names are real tongue-twisters and hard to pronounce – but luckily on the last page of the book there is a link to Usborne’s website, which shows you how to say the names correctly. Overall, this is a great book to introduce young kids to the world of dinosaurs, which benefits from its lively approach and great illustrations.
