The best book on the Wars that we have found...
The World Wars is a well illustrated, visually capturing book that draws one into the awful realities of war. My children, ages 4-9 have literally spent hours looking it over, reading parts, and telling us things that they have learned. It isn't something they will read from cover to cover for a while but it has a lot to hold their interest and keep them learning until then.

I can't praise Usborne enough for introducing [internet links] to many of their non-fiction books as it really helps children retain information.
Adventures in Home Schooling blog
This comprehensive guide to the two major conflicts of twentieth century is well illustrated, with plenty of written narrative and explanation...with internet links to recommended websites provided for further research.
