Practical Pre-School Silver Award 2009
The award is decided by Practical Pre-School product testers, who said of "That's not my puppy": "This book had immediate appeal for all the children. It is great for a wide age range as the babies enjoy the pictures and textures and the older children enjoy reading the words themselves and developing their vocabulary. It was also good for raising awareness of differences and similarities. It retained appeal for the children throughout the testing period."

Prima Baby Reader Awards "Best Buy" 2004 and 2006
Usborne That's not my... Touchy-feely books were voted Best Buy in the Toddler Book Category of the Prima Baby Reader Awards in 2004 and 2006.
A simple idea that has stretched to all kinds of themes. Chunky boardbooks with textured pages take a child through a simple narrative: “That's not my dinosaur/teddy/dolly/tractor”. And on each page there's a reason why not - like bumpy skin, shiny hair ties, squashy wheels, until eventually we arrive at the right item. As well as the touchy-feely experience, the basic vocabulary repetition is a valuable - and enjoyable - early learning tool.

There's no hint of menace with this rainbow array of dinosaurs. There's also lots of enticing textures to explore, from scratchy horns to fuzzy tails until a little white mouse is finally reunited with his own personal dinosaur, complete with a sumptuously soft, velvety spine. A fun touchy-feely adventure.

An enduring favourite
"That's not my dinosaur..." was our very first of the "That's not my..." range so it holds a special place in my heart. These books have been a real favourite since Dylan was a matter of months old. When he was tiny he loved being read to and turning the pages back and forth... then he discovered the 'touchy-feely' sections on each page and started playing with them on his own. Now, a year and a bit on, he's starting to recognise the rhythms and patterns in the words when they're read to him and can point to the textured part of each page when he's asked "where're the dinosaur's horns..." etc. He loves the bright pictures and they're a wonderful way of practising his emerging vocabulary. I can't wait until he's able to talk properly and can join in with the "that's not my dinosaur..." chorus... or when he can actually read them for himself! After buying this one we got a bit addicted to the "That's not my..." range and now have 25 of them! I just know this book will last us for years yet to come; it really is a superbly simple but clever design which has brought us many hours of happy reading and playing time. I honestly believe that this book, and our other Usborne touchy-feely books, have instilled in Dylan a genuine love of books right from his very early days.

What a gorgeous book! this is the first of the 'that's not my.....' series that we have purchased for our keenly awaited new arrival. as a couple of geologists this is a perfect way to introduce our little one to our area of interest. the illustrations are adorable and the touchy-feely parts are just perfect - i have read it 3 times already! we think our baby will love it and we will be buying more of these titles in the future.
