Not Just for Boys
My daughter was given The Illustrated Classics for Girls for Christmas. It's a lovely gift book, nice padded cover, and the stories are retold with enough gusto and gist of the originals to be exciting. At that point (Xmas) she (age 6) was reading the stories aloud to me but recently, having exhausted the Girls' book, we thought we'd give Boys' stories a try. This one is better still! The stories are so much more exciting. And now my daughter is reading the book to herself, so these titles really have helped her develop as an independent reader. My only gripe is the titles - why not a mixture of classics with no 'Boy' or 'Girl' in the title? It is 2010, after all...
