Press & Blog Reviews

Polly Plays her Part, the second book in Anne-Marie Conway’s sparkling Star Makers Club series, is a winner from start to finish and more than confirms her growing reputation as a top-class children’s author. Warm and wise, funny, gripping and full of important home truths, Conway’s clever stories pack real-life domestic dramas into entertaining stories of stage-struck youngsters.
Lancashire Evening Post
Why has Polly’s mum left her to go and live in sunny Spain? When will her new stepmum stop trying to be so nice? What happens when she ignores her dad and goes on the friend2friend website? Packed full of drama, emotions and laughs, this is a warm and witty story about fun and friendship for tweens.
Family Interest
Polly plays her part is a stunning book. It is so gripping. For instance, when Polly’s cat Cosmo is involved in an accident I was left wondering if he would live or die. I liked this book because it is realistic, the characters, the consequences of doing the wrong thing, and the plot. My favourite part is when Polly and Monty B are doing their dance on the television with the rest of the club, and Polly’s little brother crawls on the stage and tries to dance with Polly. That was funny. I think that this is a girls book, for ages 8-12. I will rate this 9/10. On the front of this book it says “you’ll LOVE this book!" That’s true!

Reader Reviews

This series is amazing!
I recently sent Anne-Marie an email. She was so friendly and replied in just a couple of hours. Here is what I wrote: "I'm just writing to let you know how much I love your books. Unfortunately, recently, you did an event at my local library but I couldn't come because I had a ballet class at the time. I was gutted. Anyway, as I was saying, you write in a way that not many authors can - a way that transports me to a completely different dimension. I am part of Star Makers. I am watching Polly on friend2friend, I am feeling for Sam, I am willing Phoebe to shine. At the end of each book, I feel upset - I know its strange but I get really involved. I'm so excited about your new project! I'll be in WHSmith in my pyjamas racing to get it! Could you answer me a question? Where do you get ideas for plots? How did you get your books published? My final question is this: do you have any ideas for things I could to enhance my writing? Like projects or something like that. I read all the time; at night when I'm not supposed to, in the bath, or wherever. I go to the library every Saturday, each time a different one. Orli xx" She answered all my questions. This series is amazing and a must-read. I am dying for Anne-Marie to write more.
