Practical Pre-School Silver Award 2009
The award is decided by Practical Pre-School product testers, who said of "That's not my puppy": "This book had immediate appeal for all the children. It is great for a wide age range as the babies enjoy the pictures and textures and the older children enjoy reading the words themselves and developing their vocabulary. It was also good for raising awareness of differences and similarities. It retained appeal for the children throughout the testing period."

Prima Baby Reader Awards "Best Buy" 2004 and 2006
Usborne That's not my... Touchy-feely books were voted Best Buy in the Toddler Book Category of the Prima Baby Reader Awards in 2004 and 2006.
A simple idea that has stretched to all kinds of themes. Chunky boardbooks with textured pages take a child through a simple narrative: “That's not my dinosaur/teddy/dolly/tractor”. And on each page there's a reason why not - like bumpy skin, shiny hair ties, squashy wheels, until eventually we arrive at the right item. As well as the touchy-feely experience, the basic vocabulary repetition is a valuable - and enjoyable - early learning tool.

Tesco Books Blog
These Usborne touchy-feely books are perfect for emerging readers. Part of a series of board books aimed at very young children they combine bright pictures with patches of texture that have been designed to stimulate the senses as well as language awareness. Babies and toddlers will be able to turn the thick board pages and touch all the patches whilst listening to the words. The pictures are vibrant, filling the whole page and clearly identifying a number of different types of trains as well as the different elements of a train such as its windows, funnel, roof and engine. Children will learn all about trains as well as about different materials and begin to develop skills allowing them to recognise shapes, materials and words
Tactile, bold with a simple and minimal text, the focus is on language and senses encouraging recognition and directing the child to the pictures via the words. Perfect for sharing with small children to encourage sensory development and a love of books.

The books are all chunky board books so ideal for rough toddlers like Harry who read them and vigorously turn the pages ... I like the fact that each of the drawings is brightly coloured, and easily depict whatever they are meant to be showing you.
