Practical Pre-School Silver Award 2009
The award is decided by Practical Pre-School product testers, who said of "That's not my puppy": "This book had immediate appeal for all the children. It is great for a wide age range as the babies enjoy the pictures and textures and the older children enjoy reading the words themselves and developing their vocabulary. It was also good for raising awareness of differences and similarities. It retained appeal for the children throughout the testing period."

Prima Baby Reader Awards "Best Buy" 2004 and 2006
Usborne That's not my... Touchy-feely books were voted Best Buy in the Toddler Book Category of the Prima Baby Reader Awards in 2004 and 2006.
A simple idea that has stretched to all kinds of themes. Chunky boardbooks with textured pages take a child through a simple narrative: “That's not my dinosaur/teddy/dolly/tractor”. And on each page there's a reason why not - like bumpy skin, shiny hair ties, squashy wheels, until eventually we arrive at the right item. As well as the touchy-feely experience, the basic vocabulary repetition is a valuable - and enjoyable - early learning tool.

That's Not My Teddy by Fiona Watt and Rachel Wells is another addition to the wonderful Touchy-Feely series. This is a sturdy, well-made book that encourages tactile and visual interaction with the youngest of readers. The bold colour and bright illustrations encourage investigation of the 'feely' element of the book, as each child searches for their teddy. This exploration of differing textures helps promote sensory awareness for the very young. Summary: Bold, bright colours and illustrations, coupled with textual repetition, made this a firm favourite with the youngest children in the nursery.'

A favourite of both my daughter and I
This was the first "That's not my..." that I bought for my daughter and introduced to her at only a few months old. As soon as she was able to she was experimenting with the textures on each page and was fascinated from the first read and remains so 2 years later! I originally chose this "That's not my..." as it had characters that any baby or child could relate to plus it had a fabulous range of different textures to play with on each page. I was not disappointed and neither was my little girl. She was constantly engrossed and amazed with each turn of the page - her favourite being the teddy with scratchy paws as not only was it a rough texture but also made a noise when she scratched it with her nail! My daughter has adored "That's not my..." books ever since being introduced to this one & makes a bee-line to them whenever we are in the library or in a book shop; however this book remains her firm favourite and I just hope she is willing to now share this with her 3 month old brother who I'm sure will enjoy it just as much.
