Each project in this colorful, attractive compendium of art projects begins with a particular work of art, from paintings by artists such as Degas, Klee, and O'Keeffe to a Calder mobile, a print by Hokusai, and a bark painting by Australian Aboriginal artist Johnny Bulunbulun. Following a double-page spread carrying a picture of the art as well as information about the work and its creator, the next spread shows readers how to create a piece of art inspired by an idea or technique in that section. Throughout the book, the excellent presentation of the projects makes them seem not only possible to complete but also worth doing. Illustrated step-by-step, the instructions are clearly written and practical, while not too narrowly focused on achieving a specific result in terms of design. This fine book will encourage art-minded children to try new ideas and new media while looking to the past for inspiration.

The Usborne Art Treasury
We totally love this book. And used it over a range of age groups (ages 2 till 11) with great success. It is amazing how much children will learn when presented with information in a fun and attractive way. The projects were fantastic - totally doable, with materials we had around the house. We did all the projects - one a week until we had worked through the book! Really a brilliant book introducing a great topic to kids. My only problem with the book is that it is not a series - I really need more of them!!!

Terrific for Teachers
This is a BRILLIANT teaching resource. It provides you with a famous artist that the children enjoy hearing about and then supplies ideas on ways for the children to interpret the artworks.

Turkish translation
I have not read the original but have access to the Turkish translation of the book published by Is Bankasi. It is an excellent reference for young artists. My daughter enjoyed looking at the pictures and reading the text. The examples are well selected and easy to apply.
