As all treasuries should be, golden vines clamber up a proper cloth cover, while inside, the stories are a satisfying mix of both traditional and the less familiar, illustrated with deft, dreamy watercolours that leave images on the mind long after the end - vicious enveloping thorns; the beast in the brocade coat; Puss in trademark footwear facing up the ogre; a gold carriage and horse with a twinkling mane; a bluebird. And it is also properly equipped with a ribbon to bookmark favourite stories as well as an explanation at the back to explain the origin of each tale.
