About Usborne Publishing

Usborne is a major, independent, award-winning UK publishing company. We publish almost every type of children's book for every age from baby to teenager.

Founded by Peter Usborne in 1973, Usborne pioneered a completely new generation of entertaining, colourful and friendly non-fiction books. Since its foundation, Usborne has been the publisher that children themselves love for its humorous, factual and fun books.

Usborne books are available around the world, both in English and in over 100 other languages. For more information, see Usborne around the world.

Usborne in 2012

Once again, the past year has been a resounding success for Usborne. More shops – and a wider variety – have been stocking our books, and more people have been buying them. We are now the only top 20 publisher to have shown growth every year for the past ten years.

2012 is set to be a busy year in the UK, where Usborne is based, as we host the Olympics and celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. To coincide with these events, we will be publishing new books on sport, the British monarchy and our capital city, London.

These are also exciting times for publishers as digital technologies continue to develop and change the way we read and interact with books. In 2012 we will be continuing to expand our eBooks programme, offering a wider range of books in electronic format, for a wider range of devices.

Our range of books for babies and toddlers continues to expand. The Usborne Reading Programme now comprises over 300 titles for children learning to read and growing in confidence in their reading. And we are equally committed to publishing excellent non-fiction across all age ranges.

For the enormous number of people learning English worldwide, we have introduced an ambitious programme of English Learners’ Editions, which we are very excited about. These are simple books accompanied by CDs with audio versions in British and American English.

Usborne fiction now includes Young Adult books such as the bestselling Angel Trilogy and Dead Beautiful, and we are excited to be publishing more brilliant books in this category in the coming year, including American National Book Award-winner Mockingbird, debut dystopian thriller The Other Life and gritty crime drama Street Duty.
