Usborne Children’s Books
The official web site of Usborne Publishing
Usborne is the biggest and most successful independent children’s book publisher in the UK. We have around 2,000 titles in print, and publish almost every type of children's book for every age group, from baby books to young adult novels.
In 2015 Usborne won the UK Private Business of the Year Award and, in February 2014, was named Independent Publisher of the Year and Independent Children’s Publisher of the Year in the Independent Publishers Guild awards.
Founded by Peter Usborne in 1973, Usborne books are conceived and created by editor/writers and designers in our offices in London, England, and illustrated by artists worldwide. We believe the way we work makes our books different from other children's books, and this is what makes them so well loved.
Readers across the generations are familiar with bestselling Usborne series such as That’s not my…, Sticker Dolly Dressing and Farmyard Tales but we publish books on a wide range of topics, from art to illustrated dictionaries, languages, cookery and fiction. You can browse the complete Usborne catalogue on this website.
Usborne books are available worldwide. In the UK, they can be found in bookshops or bought online, including from this website (see Buying Usborne books online). They are also available through Usborne Books at Home who organise school fairs and book parties. But that’s not all – we also publish Usborne books in Korean, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Dutch and Portuguese. Click on one of the flags below to find out more.
If you would like to find out more about Usborne, including what goes on behind the scenes, you can sign up for the Usborne newsletter, and follow us online.

In 1973, Peter Usborne pioneered a completely new generation of entertaining, colourful and friendly non-fiction books. He is a patron for READ International, a charity that delivers good quality books to schools in Tanzania, and has also set up the Usborne Foundation with his children, Nicola and Martin, to support initiatives to develop early literacy. Through the Usborne Foundation, they have developed Teach Your Monster to Read, a series of free award-winning online reading games. In 2011, Peter was awarded an MBE for "services to the publishing industry".
Peter is still very much involved in the business and – when he’s not travelling the world – is in the office every day.
